Our Philadelphia Story
Bag Lady from Philadelphia was born from a lifelong dream of entrepreneurship and a deep connection to Philadelphia. Raised in North Philadelphia near 24th and Columbia Avenue, now Cecil B. Moore Avenue, our founder grew up surrounded by hardworking business owners. Her grandfather sold coal and wood when they were everyday household fuel sources, and her grandmother ran a Ridge Avenue restaurant known throughout the city for its cakes and pies.
After earning a business degree, she first dreamed of opening a laundromat. Life led her instead to a 35-year career with the U.S. Government. When retirement arrived, she chose to put her love of business and computer technology back to work by launching an online store in 2024—one built around products people can use every day.
